One morning, Freya is getting ready to go out with Mummy when she can’t find one of her shoes.
“Where’s my shoe?” she asks, looking around the hallway.
She looks by the door, under the chair and even in the kitchen. But it is nowhere to be seen.
Meanwhile, Poppy is sitting happily on the rug, wagging her tail.
Freya looks at her suspiciously. “Poppy… have you seen my shoe?”
Poppy tilts her head and her ears twitch. Then she suddenly jumps up and trots into the living room.
“Wait a minute…” says Freya, hurrying after her.
Poppy is sniffing beside the sofa. Freya kneels down and peeks underneath.
“There it is!”
Half-hidden beneath the sofa is Freya’s missing shoe.
“Poppy! Did you take my shoe?” Freya laughs.
Poppy simply wags her tail.
Mummy smiles. “Puppies love carrying things away to their special hiding places. They think they’ve found a wonderful treasure.”
Freya picks up her shoe and checks it carefully.

“At least you didn’t chew it,” she says with a grin.
Poppy bounces around happily, as if to say, It was just a game… and I helped you find it!
Freya gives her playful puppy a hug.
“No more hiding my shoes, okay?”
Poppy gives Freya one of her cheeky Labrador grins… but she doesn’t make any promises.
